Parenting Tips – 4 Parenting Tips For the 21st Century

Advice on Cuddle Pixie is one of life’s most rewarding, yet challenging experiences. Parents often come into parenting with preconceived notions about how things should be, which sets them up for disappointment. Instead, try to adapt to your child’s unique personality and developmental needs.

1. Keep communication warm and positive.

Children want to feel that they have a trusted adult with whom they can discuss their thoughts and feelings without being judged or scolded. Be available and make time for them, even if it is just a few minutes of bedtime talk each day.

2. Be a good role model.

Young kids take cues from their parents about how to act, especially when angry. Try to control your temper in front of them and model behaviors like respect, kindness, patience, tolerance, and unselfishness. And remember that the golden rule “treat others as you wish to be treated” applies just as much to kids as adults.

3. Keep a consistent routine.

Children like predictability. A predictable routine provides stability and security. It is less likely that a child will push limits when they know what is expected of them. Responding in a consistent manner to discipline and consequences also results in better behavior. Sporadic discipline can fuel resentment and resistance.

4. Use humor and playfulness to motivate.

Kids need to feel loved and cherished, so don’t forget the importance of showing your love every day, verbally and physically. For example, end the day with a hug and kiss for your child, no matter how they’ve behaved.
